The Goffstown varsity boys team improved their record to 2-1 by handing Trinity(2-1-1) their first loss of the 2014 season by a score of 1-0 Wednesday afternoon. Coach Randy Lovering said "It was a hard fought very good win against a very tough Trinity team." The game was scoreless through 59 minutes until sophomore striker Sam Heidenreich beat two pioneer defenders at the touch line and made a great pass to Peter Steckowych in front of the goal. Steckowych received the pass and got it past Trinity's keeper Jake Eldred for the decisive goal.
One huge factor in Goffstown's victory was the goal-tending, coach Lovering said "Maxx Chambers played a great game in goal getting a well deserved shut out." Assisting Chambers with the clean-sheet was the defense as Lovering praised "Defensively Will Baggs and Brendan Hall played very well. Brennen Pouliot also played his best soccer of the year in the second half."
Goffstown next plays against title contender Hollis-Brookline Friday September 12 at 4pm.
