Goffstown Ice Hockey Tops the Owls

The Goffstown Varsity Ice Hockey team earned a hard fought 3-1 victory over Timberlane Wednesday night at Sullivan Arena.  Both teams had their fair share of opportunities in the first period but neither team could put the puck in the net.  After one period the score was tied at zero.  That all changed in the second period.  The second fifteen minutes of skating produce numerous power plays and three goals. Goffstown netted two (Nevin Houle & A.J. Potvin) and Timberlane put one past Goffstown goaltender Colin Holt.  The third period saw Goffstown trying to put the game out of reach, but Timberlane wouldn't cave.  After pulling their goalie and skating with a one man advantage, the Owls created some excitement and tension by having numerous chances to tie it.  Holt had some huge saves in the final minute and with 16 seconds remaining A.J. Potvin scored an empty-net goal to ice the game for the Grizzlies.  Goffstown is now 4-2 on the season and next play   Dover (6-1) Saturday January 18 at 7:30pm at the Sullivan Arena.
